A parliamentary majority voted to lift the immunity of thirteen lawmakers following a request from the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), allowing the politicians to be prosecuted for their alleged role in the scandal. The investigation concerns the misappropriation of more than €23 million in EU agricultural subsidies between 2018 and 2021. All thirteen suspects are members of the governing New Democracy (ND) party. The move enables Greek authorities to pursue criminal charges against the lawmakers.
